More about Roquita
DignityMoves is a nonprofit organization working to end unsheltered homelessness by rapidly developing dignified, cost-effective and scalable Interim Supportive Housing. The organization addresses a critical gap between living on the street and permanent housing. Rather than relying on traditional congregate shelters, DignityMoves creates communities where residents have their own private room with a locking door, alongside shared community spaces and access to intensive supportive services that help people stabilize and move toward permanent housing. Its model is designed for speed and scalability. DignityMoves works with cities, counties, philanthropy, service providers, private landowners and corporate partners to activate underutilized land, deploy modular and innovative construction approaches, and reduce the time and cost required to bring people indoors. DignityMoves is also focused on systems change. Beyond developing individual communities, the organization advocates for policies, funding structures and public-private partnerships that make Interim Supportive Housing easier for communities across the country to replicate. As of February 2026, DignityMoves reported 12 communities open, 10 additional communities in development and more than 1,900 people served. At its core, DignityMoves is demonstrating that communities do not have to choose between leaving people on the street and waiting years for permanent housing to be built. There is a third option: create dignified places for people to come indoors now, stabilize, receive support and begin the transition home.
